Xbox 360 Faceplate contest ended
The Xbox 360 faceplate competition at MajorNelson’s blog has closed on June 30th 2005. The contest encouraged visitors to create their own custom faceplate designs using Photoshop template files.
The prize for the winner is a Plantronics Major Nelson headset and major Nelson’s personal E3 Xbox 360 Faceplate.
Here are some examples that we prepared earlier, using the provided faceplate templates.

The idea of customizable faceplates on the Xbox 360 came originally from ASTRO design studio who were involved with the design of the Xbox 360 console. Astro have also designed Alienware PCs. Read an Interview with Brett Lovelady from ASTRO.
A funny parody about how Xbox 360 custom faceplates were invented, attributing the faceplates idea to Xbox Design Director Jonathan Hayes, was initially posted on PS3focus.com but has since been moved to Hypebox360.com to avoid confusion.
