Emergent Technologies developing next-gen game engine for PS3
Emergent Technologies has announced that it is developing a version of its Gamebryo 2.1 game engine for the Playstation 3.

Speaking at the Austin Game Conference, Emergent’s president and CEO Geoffrey Selzer stated,
“We’re making the technology, tools and middleware that we believe will usher in the next phase of innovation in game development and game play […] The next generation of games will require greater innovation while facing increased complexity and costs of development.
We are driving the state of the art of game development, offering visibility into and control of the development process.”
Emergent’s most significant competitor in the next-gen game engine market is Epic Games, creators of Unreal Engine 3. Epic has already created Xbox 360 and PS3 compatible versions of its next-gen game engine, and boasts such licensees as Namco, Midway and Microsoft Game Studios.
Emergent has released an Xbox 360 compatible version of Gamebryo 2.1, and it has currently been used as the basis for at least one Xbox 360 title: Bethesda has based their launch window title “Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion” on the next-gen game engine.
