720p is high def so is 1080i 1080p is the highest quality though

I dont know how fancy the PS3 may or may not be, but I recognize a shed load of marketing bull when I see it... "The true definition of HD is the three elements of the HD value chain - the display, the content and the hardware to play back that content" "PlayStation 3 is the only format that has 1080-progressive, which is the true definition of HD" ...so which is it?

cause its not only being sold as a game machine its also gonna play movies and your paying the extra dollars for it

HD is all about the resolution and both video cards x360 ATI and ps3 nvidia can support more than 1920 x1080 = 1080p actually they can output even farther than 2048 x 1536 but the problem is the availibility of the displays out there. The x360 doesn't have yet an HDMI output, sony does. and 1080p can only be viewed by HDMI/DVI. Ive read that there will be an available HDMI adapter for the x360 at the end on january. so lets no loose the head by being fanboys. Both of these consoles are vey good. I'm buying both and enjoy the best of both worlds.

Well heres the problem, at least in America only 12 percent of the population actually have HD TV's which most at the moment don't even support 1080p. Also Blu ray hasnt even taken off nor has HD and these are two competing technologies. Things like this have happened in the past such as dcc decks mini disc by sony dat machines, it all comes down to copyrights. The other thing about this whole Blu ray thing as it is a great idea its going to cost companies that make dvds tons of cash to switch around their machines, plus they take longer to make, not to mention this ps3 is gonna be very expensive. With all this said its never really about the graphics its about the games. I have a 360 for halo and I'll surely lay out the money for a ps3 because of the games but this whole high def era has a long way to go, all kinds of legal crap with piracy as well anywho keep playing.
