Australia included in simultaneous worldwide PS3 launch
Sony reinforced their worldwide launch strategy for the Playstation 3 by announcing that the simultaneous release of their next-generation console includes Australia, along with North America, Asia and Europe.

No release date has been set apart from a vague “early November”, but it is sure to come as a relief to many Australians, as new video game consoles used to be released on the Australian market months after the release in other territories.
For example, Microsoft’s Xbox 360 is still yet to arrive in Australia, four months after it was released in North America.
In a press release, David Reeves, President and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, said:
“We are absolutely delighted that we will be able to bring PS3 to gamers in Europe and Australia before Christmas. This is an exciting first for Europe, and is a huge endorsement and vote of confidence in the strength of the European market and its importance globally.”
