PS3 release date delayed in Europe and Australia
Now officially confirmed: The previously announced November launch of PLAYSTATION®3 will be delayed in Europe and the PAL territories of Russia, the Middle East, Africa and Australasia, until March 2007.
The system will launch in Japan and America this November, as originally planned.
PLAYSTATION 3 comprises many cutting-edge technologies; unfortunately, production issues with the blue laser diodes needed for the Blu-ray Disc drive at the heart of the system have forced Sony to push the European launch back.
With many different territories and languages to support, the PAL market is the most complicated region in which to launch the the Playsation 3, and is therefore the most pragmatic choice to bear the brunt of the shortage of PS3 components.
The PLAYSTATION 3 console will launch in Europe next March.
