1: to M gamer - the ps2 came out before xbox and it had a harddrive expansion port on the back. because of the lack of need for it they decided to make it optional to save cost and weight.

2: To Justin - the reason they have 7 ports is due to the fact that the components used to accept a total of 8 seperate frequencys, 1 for master control the other can be used for whatever… unlike microsoft sony have allowed for the full use of this technology allowing all ports to be used rather than wasting time trying to screen them off.
