Its a very smart idea because when you think about how Sony has roughly 70 Percent of marketing share they have more confidence in their fan base and can make more gutsy moves. If the PS3 is going to lose a billion in the first year that lower price will get more people which will then payback that billion within a couple years. This will also increase the size of the fan base for the next system.
