Europe has agreed on a common HD standard. Like the US and elsewhere 1080i and 720p are allowed, but the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) recommends 720p.
The actual problem is that most flat screens currently beeing sold, will only support HD frequencies of 60 Hz (USA & Japan) while the Euro HD standard demands 50 Hz. Add to this this lack of HDCP compliant digital inputs on many displays.
I’m interested most to learn what the picture resolution would be for the 32:9 (two 16:9 displays combined) format, PS3 intends to offer, that is for each of the two screens. Comments appreciated!
