“mob” has made some good points. First and foremost for the consumer is that high end PC price is extreme compared to game console price.
Games are not as good or complex as they can be as they are bound by being compatiable to PC’s that are much lower spec than a console (for sale-ability).
How many people get sick of patches, software, configuring their sound system (a headache at times in itself) and all the other strain to be flexible for compatability???
Then, dad or mum need to use the PC to type that letter! One could buy a resonable PC for video, photo’s, internet, work - home use, plus a console, and have plenty of change left when compared to one of those ‘cutting edge’ PC’s.
I have 3 children -9, 11, and 13. They do wonderful things on their PC, but prefer the playstation and x-box rather than headaches on PC. -Dont get me wrong, there is still plenty of games to play on my mid-range much cheaper than ‘cutting edge’ PC.
That said, the day is near that PC, console, and home entertainment (for movies, music etc) will all be compatable components to piece together (its a bit like that now).
